Indian Arrival Day!
Celebrated but once a year on the 30th May on the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, it marks the arrival of the Indians on our Caribbean gem. They started their work as indentured labourers and began to stamp their deep imprint on the country. With them they brought their food, language, dress, dance, music and gross population which actually takes up nearly a third of our little island’s population. Their culture is enjoyed by all and our people usually celebrate by spending the day cooking and eating curry and their sweet delicacies. The Indian community usually dresses in traditional wear and take part in what we call ” river limes” at any river available.
